Required: Freelance WordPress designer

We are on the lookout for a remote*, highly experienced, freelance designer with specific expertise in WordPress.

(*though if you’re local to Newport, South Wales, great! However, you will probably be based anywhere in the UK, or even beyond).

Note for agencies/off shore companies – please, please do not get in touch – this is not for you.

Glass Mountains [GM] is a ‘virtual agency‘, so we don’t have a fancy office etc. All of our team are remote; dotted around the UK (plus a designer in Germany) so we rarely meet up face to face. Normally we’ll communicate via the usual online tools (Slack, Skype, Zoom, etc).

We have a core team including me (Joel), who owns/runs the company. The are two other WordPress designers, we also have quite a few WordPress developers, and admin / PM / Account Management folks. Most of these people have worked with GM for many years – so we’re looking to form a long term relationship here; this is not a shout out because we have a shorterm issue on a project. If you are looking for a bit of work to tide you over before you take up your next full time contract etc; this is not for you.*

(*really important).

Who you are?

You will have many years designing websites experience with with WordPress. You have very high quality frontend skills so you know all about building HTML websites, CSS, media queries, responsiveness etc etc.

You’ve also got WordPress specific knowledge meaning you can code your design into a bespoke WordPress theme.

You have experience in working with ACF/Gutenberg etc.

We use GIT so you should have basic experience of that.

You’re not expected to be a hard core WordPress dev – we have developers for that.

What you’ll do?

You’ll be doing things like:

  • designing bespoke WordPress themes on new projects
  • creating and design assets for ongoing projects

When you’ll work

That’s very much up to you but this role only suits a seasoned freelancer who can offer us a steady stream of availability  – i.e. this role does NOT suit someone with a full time role or contract; or looking for a quick bit of work before something else starts.

This suits a WordPress designer freelancer who is already juggling (and is planning on continuing to do so) multiple clients.

You’ll work from your own location.

We typically only need a couple of hours of so a week but, if we need more, we’ll agree and plan that with you. Work is generally pretty regular.

Slack etc help us chat about workload and when stuff needs to happen – it’s always jointly agreed so no undue pressure etc.

If that sounds you, then please get in touch – but please, please make sure the above fits you first.

Joel

p.s. if you are recruitment company or an off shore agency then sorry, but there is no point in getting in touch.
